Busy Weekend

What a weekend! Started with a mighty fine curry with Mr Hasdell, I of course completely over induldged and then found it difficult to sleep, meaning that getting up for my 0630 pickup time was even more difficult!

We had out final 'on the mountain' training prior to the 3 peaks challenge on Saturday and again tackled the Watkin Path, this time with a time goal of 4.5 hours. The weather was good at the bottom, but cloud cover came in at 700m so we expected different conditions at the summit. We all set off at a terrific pace and the team spirit and bravado meant that that was continued al the way to the summit, reaching the trig point 3 minutes shy of 2 hours (well ahead of schedule). We stayed on top (wrapped up and stuffing out faces) for about 20 minutes, before starting down. After negotiating the zig-zags, we all felt pretty good so started a run, which again continued to the car park. We covered the down hill 4+ miles in just over an hour, giving up a total up/down time of 3:12

Sunday I didn't feel too bad, which was just as well as we had our family bike ride with the Huthmachers & the Watsons planned! I'm glad it wasn't too far this time either! We all came back and enjoyed the fine weather with perhaps just a little too much wine.

Final Mountain Training

24 hours ahead of our final 'on the mountain' training and feeling very positive. Not much training done this week, although have been on top form since my reflexology session on Wednesday night. Did go to the gym yesterday and after some stairmaster work went on the treadmill which went very well. I'm not one for running really, but I felt really comfortable and instead of counting down to a (normally pathetic) target I actually just kept going. It was only the time constraint of getting back to do some more work that stopped me.

Looking ahead the weather for our final training is looking good though

Photo Projects

Over the last year, with working away and working long hours, my photography and creative streak has been severely hampered. I need to try and kick start this and Tingy has given much inspiration lately. The mistake I normally make is to through myself head-long into a project and only to see something else crop up and knock my plans off track. Take it as it comes. After chatting with Niall the other day I also wondered whether there are any creative technique workshops around.
